New COVID-19 Support Package to help businesses across NSW

The NSW government is offering businesses support grants to help alleviate cash flow constraints while trading is restricted. The grants can be used to cover business related expenses such as rent, utilities and wages, for which no other government support is available.

This includes:

  • Business related costs such as utilities, wages, rent;
  • Financial, legal or other advice to support business continuity planning;
  • Marketing and communications activities to develop the business;
  • The cost of perishable goods that can no longer be used; or
  • Other activities to support the operation of the business.

The grant program extended by the NSW government will be delivered under two separate streams.

It is important to note that only one stream is available per entity.

1. Small Business COVID-19 Support Grant Stream

Grants of up to $15,000 will be available under this scheme which is designed for sole-traders and not-for-profit organisations.

Three separate grant amounts will be provided under this arrangement depending on the decline in turnover a business has experienced during the restrictions.

Businesses must have a decline in turnover of at least 30% in the two-week period following the lockdown.

The total amount of the grant businesses may receive will depend on the decline in turnover measured by a specific percentage as follows:

  • $7,500 for a decline of 30% or more;
  • $10,500 for a decline of 50% or more;
  • $15,000 for a decline of 70% or more.
